USES OF CAN AND COULD

In English Grammar Can and Could are called Modal Verb, both of them have the same meaning but Can and Could have differences in using. The following six differences function of Can and Could:
1. Can usually used to refer general ability in simple present form but Could usually uses to refer generally ability in simple past form
example:

•     You can see fish at an aquarium
•     I could drive car when i was 18 year old.
•     Tommy is strong. He can lift that big stone.
•     When i was younger, I could run fast

2. Can is used to ask and give permission  informal (in polite) and Could is used to ask  permission and give suggestion formally (more polite).

Example: 

• Can i borrow your jacket please?
• When you finish the test, you can leave the class 
• Could you lend me money for buying a book?
• Rudi doesn't understand how playing drum well, he could ask his music teacher.

3. Can is used to request something (informal) and Could is used to request something politely (more polite).

Example:

• Can you help me please?
• Could I borrow your pen?
• Could you help her?
• Can you finish my homework?

4. Can usually express the idea that something is possible because certain characteristics or conditions exist and Could is used to express the idea that something is possible too but in simple past form.
Example:

• That race car can go very fast
• I can speak English well. I've taken course for 1 year 
• You could have broken your arm
• He could have been at home.

5. Can is used to offer help to someone but it usually use informal and Could can be used to make suggestion.

Example:

• Can I borrow your car?
• We could go on picnic if you are free
• Can I carry your staff?
• Budi wins football competition. He could go to Chelsea for Training 

Those are differences Can and Could, actually both of them are the same in meaning but has differences in using.

Kata May dan Might bagai pinang di belah dua, dua kata tersebut mempunyai kesamaan dalam arti, penggunaan dan posisinya di dalam kalimat. Akan tetapi ada perbedaan dari dua kata tersebut yaitu 

1. Might biasanya di gunakan untuk menyatakan  kegiatan atau kejadian yang persentase (peluang ) akan  terjadinya lebih rendah.

2. May menyatakan kegiatan atau kejadian yang Persentase (peluang) akan terjadinya lebih tinggi.

3. May juga di gunakan ketika ingin mengungkapkan pengharapan atau memebrikan izin.
